Overview
In October 2025 at TUM Venture Labs we were faced with one of the issues that Wolff & Müller faced. The board members and risk department could not monitor and cooperate with their team leaders without going into detail every time — every status update pulled them down into the weeds of individual projects.
They wanted a tool that helps them get an overview of the projects, with only the most important information: delays on certain milestones, upcoming quality gates, and the risks involved with some of the key areas of each project. Detail stays with the team leaders; the board sees the signal.
Our response was a risk-management organiser built around the construction project lifecycle — from Akquisition through Projekt Abschluss — with a focused area of expertise on the Angebotsphase, where decisions made early cascade the hardest into delivery risk.

The problem — oversight without the detail
Traditional construction organisations run as one integrated pyramid: board, risk department, team leaders and project managers all on the same pipe. That forces the top two layers to dive into operational detail just to know what's happening. The focused model on the right is what our tool enables — board members and the risk department watch the signal, while team leaders and project managers stay in charge of operational detail.

Risk Assessment Matrix — click a cell, see the risks
A 5×5 likelihood × impact grid plots every construction risk on one screen. Clicking a cell filters the list below to just the risks sitting there — here, Possible × Significant surfaces Labor Shortage and Subcontractor Performance Issues. The board starts with the red cells and only dives deeper when the signal warrants it.
