Overview
Bazarty is a Polish marketplace for handmade objects and art: ceramics, clothing, jewellery, furniture and sculpture, sold directly by the people who make them. A creator opens a shop, lists work with photos, prices and descriptions, and buyers browse a curated catalogue rather than an open flea market of everything.
The mechanic that matters is payment. Money is held by the platform from checkout until the buyer confirms delivery, and only then released to the creator, with returns and refunds if something goes wrong. That is what lets two strangers transact over a one-off object with no shared history. Around it sit the things that make a marketplace feel like a community: following creators to see new work, saving pieces to private or public boards, and messaging a maker directly about a commission.
I am the technical co-founder: product architecture and the full stack. It runs on Next.js and TypeScript with Supabase behind it for the database, auth and image storage, deployed on Vercel. The site is live in pre-launch, gathering creators ahead of opening the catalogue.
Getting the first makers on board is its own problem, so the creator programme is part of the product rather than a marketing afterthought: 0% commission for the first year, a place in a small first wave, and video and written profiles produced together, either filmed by the maker or by us in their workshop. A marketplace with no sellers is an empty room, and the people who fill it first are taking the biggest risk.
